The exterior of the home is wrapped in eastern white cedar shake and nickel gap siding with a matching cedar shake roof. Windows are oversized glass panes that span the steel and wood structure. To ensure both acoustical performance and interior climate control, the home utilizes multiple layers of spray foam insulation that exceed local R-value requirements. The chimney is clad in fond du lac stone with a limestone cap.  

Inside the home, a natural limestone floor greets you at the front door and the white oak carries you into the open concept main living area. The kitchen is filled with light, natural stone countertops, white oak ceiling and island, dark wood cabinets and a Miele appliance package with multiple fridges, induction cooktop, integrated downdraft hood and an auxiliary pantry. The flooring throughout the home is white oak, bathroom floors and walls consist of Turkish Bianco Dolomiti, Italian Carrara Marble, and authentic Morrocan Zellige Tiles. Accent walls and ceilings in the home are made from Ash, Maple and Oak. With a focus to create a lower carbon footprint, the home is primarily electric, incorporating a high performance mechanical system with multiple zones, heated floors, and a car charger in the garage. The large Isokern stone fireplace with a custom limestone hearth can operate with either wood or gas. Furniture and fixtures are sourced from Four Hands, Restoration Hardware, Room and Board, Citizenry, Visual Comforts, Lightology, Article, Sundays, Thuma and other brands that produce well crafted locally sourced natural furnishings made for the home. 

Perched up a few steps from Lake Michigan, this rustic modern home aims to find harmony with its natural surroundings. Through the oversized windows are views of mature birch, red maple, a meandering creek, private woodlands, and dramatic lake views. The home is professionally landscaped, with multiple sitting areas, dining area, outdoor kitchen, lighting, irrigation and a variety of trees and grasses planted throughout the property. Freshwater Development is the Developer, Design Architect and General Contractor for the project. 

Freshwater hires and manages all consultants and trades, including but not limited to; Architect of Record, Structural Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Civil Engineer and all the licensed subcontractors in the field. Construction was completed in June 2024.
