Freshwater Development completed an extensive renovation and full reconstruction of a 3,800-square-foot Victorian home in the Historic District of downtown Traverse City. Originally built in 1901, the home was reimagined to honor its architectural heritage while integrating modern construction techniques and materials.
Located on Washington Street just blocks from the beach and downtown, the home features five bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, two primary suites, and multiple indoor and outdoor living spaces—creating a private retreat in the heart of the city.
The exterior showcases a wraparound porch that transitions to bluestone hardscape and professionally landscaped grounds, complete with an oversized wood-burning fireplace, layered plantings, and irrigation. The home features a fully reconstructed façade, including a new roof, windows, doors, siding, trim, and paint.
Inside, a refined palette of natural stone and white oak defines the living spaces. The kitchen is designed for gathering, featuring natural stone countertops, a white oak ceiling and island, panelized appliances, and a chef’s pantry. White oak flooring extends throughout, while bathrooms are finished in natural marble and tile.
Designed for performance and longevity, the home exceeds local insulation standards and incorporates a multi-zone geothermal system, multiple fireplaces, and two EV chargers. Freshwater Development served as Developer, Design Architect, and General Contractor. Completed Q1 2026.
